Backstory Born under a veil of celestial radiance yet marked by tragedy, Leo was orphaned as a child and shunned by the fearful townsfolk who sensed an otherworldly aura about him. Cast out and alone, he wandered until an abyssal cult ensnared him, offering false comfort but twisting his innocence with sinister doctrines. When his Aasimar heritage revealed itself—a halo of light in the darkness—the cult tried to force his allegiance, but Leo fled into the night, desperate to escape their grasp.
Weak and starving, Leo eventually took refuge in a barn on a farm. During the night, while he slept, an infestation of spiders crawled out and covered him entirely. He woke up to this swarm upon him and he was instantly terrified. This led to a traumatic fear of spiders that he, to this day, still works to overcome. In the morning, he was discovered by a humble farmer who, along with his generous family, took him in without question. Though Leo lacked the physical strength for grueling labor, his charisma and kindness soon won over not only his adoptive family but the entire village. He became a beloved figure, respected for his wisdom and unwavering spirit. Yet, as the years passed, the memories of manipulation and pain at the cult’s hands festered in his heart. Determined to right the wrongs of his past, Leo resolved to one day return and bring justice to those who had corrupted his youth, vowing to protect others from the darkness that nearly consumed him.
When he became of age, he thanked the farmer and his family and set out to find out who he was. He travelled to Candlekeep and took up studies there on his heritage. There he learned about Aasimars and their infused celestial powers. He took a kinship to a fallen angel by the name of Zariel. He saw in her the corruption by abyssal and devil powers that ultimately turned her. He felt that it was what would have happened to him if he had not escaped the cult all those years ago. He resigned himself to seeking vengeance on all dark and evil things in an effort to redeem himself. His ultimate goal is to wield Zariel’s sword one day, in the name of justice and vengeance, for she could not do it any longer. Knowing that he would need help achieving this goal, he set out to join an adventuring party and begin his quest for vengeance and the sword.
